چکیده
The AcerMC Monte Carlo Event Generator is dedicated for the generation of Standard Model background processes at pp LHC collisions. The program itself provides a library of the massive matrix elements and phase space modules for generation of a set of selected processes: gg, qq̄ → tt̄bb̄, qq̄W (→ lν)bb̄, qq̄W (→ lν)tt̄, gg, qq̄ → Z/γ∗(→ ll)bb̄, gg, qq̄ → Z/γ∗(→ ll, νν, bb̄)tt̄ and complete electroweak gg → (Z/W/γ∗ →)bb̄tt̄ process. The hard process event, generated with one of these modules, can be completed by the initial and final state radiation, hadronisation and decays, simulated with either PYTHIA or HERWIG Monte Carlo event generator. Interfaces to both of these generators are provided in the distribution version. The matrix element codes have been derived with the help of the MADGRAPH package. The phase-space generation is based on the multi-channel self-optimising approach as proposed in NEXTCALIBUR event generator. Eventually, additional smoothing of the phase space was obtained by using a modified ac-VEGAS routine in order to improve the generation efficiency.

CHARYBDIS: A Black Hole Event Generator
CHARYBDIS is an event generator which simulates the production and decay of miniature black holes at hadronic colliders as might be possible in certain extra dimension models. It interfaces via the Les Houches accord to general purpose Monte Carlo programs like HERWIG and PYTHIA which then perform the parton evolution and hadronization. The event generator includes the extra-dimensional ‘grey-b...
متن کاملTowards a Fragmentation Model for Sherpa A
Some results highlighting the status of a new version of a cluster fragmentation model for the Monte Carlo event generator Sherpa are presented. In its present version this model is capable of simulating e + e − annihilation events into light-quark and gluon jets. We compare results for different multiplicity and momentum distributions to available SLD and LEP data as well as to results obtaine...
متن کاملColour Coherence in Photon Induced Reactions
Colour coherence in hard photoproduction is considered using the Monte Carlo event generators PYTHIA and HERWIG. Significant effects in the parton shower are found using multijet observables for direct and resolved photon induced reactions. The particle flow in the interjet region of direct processes shows a strong influence of string fragmentation effects.
متن کاملReport of the Qcd Working Group
The activities of the QCD working group concentrated on improving the understanding and Monte Carlo simulation of multi-jet final states due to hard QCD processes at LEP, i.e. quark-antiquark plus multi-gluon and/or secondary quark production, with particular emphasis on four-jet final states and b-quark mass effects. Specific topics covered are: relevant developments in the main event generato...
متن کاملBottom-quark fragmentation: comparing results from tuned event generators and resummed calculations
We study bottom-quark fragmentation in ee annihilation, top and Higgs decay H → bb̄, using Monte Carlo event generators, as well as calculations, based on the formalism of perturbative fragmentation functions, which resum softand collinear-radiation effects in the next-to-leading logarithmic approximation. We consider the PYTHIA and HERWIG generators, and implement matrix-element corrections to ...
